4th Annual Backpacking Trip in the Porcupine Mountains

September 13, 2019 - September 15, 2019

While this particular hike is only 17 miles long, the trip is considered intermediate due to the remoteness and rugged terrain. We will be miles from the nearest road. This hike is intended for experienced backpackers who are very comfortable using their gear and can pack light. If you are unsure about any aspects of this trip, please reach out to me (Nickofthewoods); I am happy to help you prepare.

Each day, we will travel along the Lake Superior coastline through old growth forest. There will be plenty of opportunities for swimming and snapping fall photos. We should be able to check out some of the waterfalls too! Northern Lights over the lake are also a regular occurrence.

We will hike to our designated sites each day and enjoy the spectacular views of the lakeshore, rain or shine (hopefully just shine). The back country campsites have fire rings and bear poles for hanging food.

If anyone wishes to head up early, free campsites on private land are available Thursday night in Three Lakes, WI, about 2.5 hours south of the trip’s starting location. This makes Friday’s drive quick and painless. Info will be sent upon registration.

AS ALWAYS >>> Upon registration, you will receive a recommended gear list. A detailed map and directions will also be provided once the trip is full.
