5 Day Wilderness Snowshoeing Trip in Upper Michigan (All Inclusive)
This is a brand new 5 day adventure and you can be the first to join us!!!
If you absolutely love winter, it’s tough to beat the pristine wilderness and deep snow of Upper Michigan! NOW Outdoors has partnered with True North Outpost as a launch point for several new adventures in the UP. This is an all inclusive trip that balances traditional winter trekking with incredible food and plenty of time to explore or just kick back and relax. As with all of our trips, this is a great opportunity to really hone your winter skills and gain solid experience in deep snow country. We will work as a team to accomplish daily camp chores of processing firewood and water among other things. Feel free to pick up a fishing license too if you want to try for fresh walleye or panfish.
This trip is extremely limited. Only 8 spots available! Previous winter camping experience is recommended but not required. Please contact me at Info@nowoutdoors.org with any questions you may have.
This is a traditional winter camping trip and we will travel over lakes and land by snowshoe pulling everything behind us (by our own power) on toboggans and sleds. Absolutely nothing is carried on our backs. At night we sleep in canvas hot tents on a bed of boughs (environment permitting). We warm the tent, cook fantastic meals, and dry our clothes by the heat of a wood stove. Even if it’s -30F degrees outside, we can relax in amazing comfort inside the tent!
Day 1. We will all meet Thursday Feb 20th at True North Outpost (TNO) in Norway MI at 5pm. Pizza dinner will be provided. We will do a gear check and spend the night.
Day 2. After an early breakfast, we will load our gear and ourselves into our group van and head to the Ottawa National Forest. Once we arrive at the trail head, it’s a 6 mile trek (based on conditions) towing toboggans. We will travel over several lakes and portage trails before reaching our spot to set up camp. We will stay here for 3 nights enjoying the beautiful landscape, deep snow, and fantastic ice fishing opportunities if you wish.
Day 3: Day hike to explore neighboring lakes
Day 4: Rest day
Day 5: We will eat early and break camp. The hike out will be roughly 2 miles. We will load up and head back to the lodge and home from there.
