Our handmade alpaca hats are a premium cold-weather luxury. Each hat features thick warm fur on the outside and a short alpaca fur inner lining. We have been testing these hats for several years in the backcountry in the coldest conditions and they continue to impress us. We started getting requests for these hats from our trip-goers and we're happy to say that day has finally arrived!
- Alpaca fibers are completely hollow much like polar bear fur. Both fibers allow air to permeate the surface and become trapped inside for an exceptionally warm wearing experience.
- Alpaca fur is warmer, more durable, and softer than sheep wool or cashmere.
- Alpaca fur is more water resistant than sheep wool and wicks moisture away from your body 85% faster than merino wool.
- Alpaca fur is anti-microbial and naturally hypoallergenic because it does not contain the lanolin found in sheep wool which causes irritation for some people.
Every hat has its own unique character with slight variations from one to the next. Alpaca fur comes in a wide array of colors that we have broken down to dark brown, black, white, or blond. We also have an occasional white and brown combination like the one shown in the pictures.

Alpaca Fur Hat
Our hats are all hand made in small batches. Due to the nature of the tanning process, the hats might feel a bit stiff at first. There is a short break-in period by which the leather in the hats will soften up. There is no difference in quality between the various colors. However, prices differ based on the limited availability of some colors.
Hats
To determine your hat size, measure the circumference around your head with a measure tape or string, keeping the string level and firm, across the temples and above the eyebrow ridges. Measure the length of the string.
NOTE: For in-between measurements go the next size up.
TIP FOR GIFT BUYING: The average female head size is medium. The average male head size is large.
